JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The details of the JEE Main 2021 exam pattern and syllabus are given below –

JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern

  • Exam Mode: Computer-based Test (CBT) mode
  • Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
  • Language of Exam: English, Hindi
  • For applicants from Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu, the exam will also be available in Gujarati apart from English and Hindi
  • Papers: B.E/B.Tech (Paper I), B.Arch (Paper-II), B.Plan (Paper III)
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions, B.Arch paper will have a subjective drawing type question
  • Number of Questions: B.E/B.Tech (Paper I) – 75, B.Arch (Paper-II) – 77, B.Plan (Paper III) – 100
  • Marking Scheme: +4 marks would be awarded for each correct answer, -1 would be reduced for each incorrect answer

JEE Main 2021 Syllabus

  • The JEE Main 2021 syllabus would be released through the online mode by NTA.
  • The syllabus of the exam will be the class 11 and class 12 CBSE topics.
  • Aspirants must prepare for the topics from the NCERT syllabus.
  • The syllabus is varied for the three papers as given below –
    • The JEE Main Paper I Syllabus for B.E/B. Tech will be from the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Part I :

JEE Main 2021 Eligibility guideline:

Now that you know the JEE Main 2021 exam pattern syllabus, you can now check to see if you fit the eligibility criteria for writing the exam.

General Eligibility guideline :

  • Nationality: Indian candidates and foreign candidates are eligible to apply for this exam.
  • Foreign Candidates: Candidates from foreign countries must have the required marks or percentage from a board that is recognized by AIU in order to be considered eligible for the JEE Main 2021 exam.
  • Age Limit: There are no age limits mentioned by NTA for the JEE Main 2021 exam.
  • Number of Attempts: You can attempt JEE Main as many times as you want.

Criteria for Qualification :

  • Exam to be Qualified: Applicants should have cleared class 12 or an equivalent exam from a well-established university or board in 2019 or 2020.
  • Qualifying Subjects:

    • E/B.Tech: Candidates should have cleared class 12 with physics as the mandatory subject in addition to Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or any other subject as optional subjects.

Note: Chemistry is not considered to be a mandatory subject anymore for B.E/B. Tech courses according to the latest notification released by the NTA.

  • Arch: Candidates should have cleared class 12 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as the mandatory subjects.
  • Plan: Candidates must have cleared class 12 with mathematics as the mandatory subject.
  • Diploma: Applicants that possess a diploma will also be considered for attempting JEE Main 2021.
  • Appearing Candidates: Applicants that are yet to answer the class 12 examination in the 2021 session are also allowed to appear for JEE Main.

Note: Candidates who have cleared class 12 in the year of 2018 or earlier will not be considered eligible to apply for JEE Main 2021.

JEE Main 2021 exam pattern and syllabus: Application Form Information

For the January session, the application form for JEE Main 2021 is to be released during the first week of September 2020.

  • For the April session, the application form for JEE Main 2021 is to be released during the first week of February 2021.
  • Candidates should register themselves for the exam through the online mode.
